I Woke Up Near the Sea | Lydia
“So its another night in my brain ‘cause I can’t sleep. And oh, it wears on your shoulders just please don’t ever leave me here, don’t ever leave me. Don’t you leave. Start out like a sailor and bring back all you need. So everyone else can try and get some sleep”
Brutal honesty.
Our World Is Grey | As Cities Burn
He’s shooting god up in his arm through a needle.
And she’s putting cuts on her legs to bleed out the devil.
“Surely you will not die, eat and you shall be like God.”
What have we done?
Say it, say it!
Say that this is all for redemption.
I’m sure if You wanted to stop love,
You could just untie your end and let it go.
But, my God, you don’t.
Yeah, I think I love You for it.

“The Breaker’s Commission” - For Today
Life. Love. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Stripping demons right off my back trying to leach life off me, get off me and feel my father’s fury, oppressor.
One day you’ll feel the full blast of his vengeance,Beelzebub, but for now I’ll love.
Cause I got strength. He blew courage in my backbone. Now I’ll stand straight and militant, lining up in Jehovah’s battalion, knowing you can’t challenge him so we march forward. Swift as eagles, set like talons ready to grip souls from your grasp, slick snake in the grass my Lord sees you and vengeance is his.
But for now I retaliate, propelled by a holy mandate to heal ‘cause I know how bad it hurts. Full of madness at first but now gladness bursts out the seams of our beings ‘cause we overflow with the oil of joy, the ointment of the anointed, mending any torn soul. Healing any broken bone. He is here. He was there. He is peace. He is faithful.
I am close to 20 years old. I find myself spending time watching superhero movies of any kind, live-action and animated. I look up bios on heroes. I learn their various origins and story lines. I read comic books. I’ve spent hours learning about these imaginary, larger-than-life people. It’s not an obsession, it’s just a hobby of mine, kind of like how I like to play guitar, or play video games, etc. Sometimes, I talk to my friends about them. I feel like they think I’m weird, or a nerd, or some kind of freak. Regardless, I continue on with my hobby. It’s because, though however fictitious superheroes are, they are role-models for me. They have the strength and audacity to stand up to evil and injustice; to change the world. I want to be that kind of person. I feel alienated from my peers. Yet, when something’s wrong, or when someone needs something, I step in. Not out of pride or because of some ulterior motive. I step in out of genuine concern and love. To me, superheroes are similar to my savior, Jesus.
“I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” - Matthew 10:34
Jesus, in one way or another, was a superhero. I take that verse to heart. Jesus wasn’t some pansy, gentle faced hippie. He was a man. He was THE Man. He was the epitome of what a man should be. He did not overlook injustice. He stood up to it. He may have never literally taken a fist to the face of evil, but rather, He did so figuratively. He exposed injustice for what it is. He brought what was in the dark out into the light, for all to see. He was shrewd but wise. He was bold. He stood firm because his faith was solid.
I like super heroes because I see Jesus in them, one way or another. So laugh at me. Think what you want of me. I’ll still always see Christ in them.

I’ve been harboring some bitterness these past couple of days… But God pierced my heart with his word this evening (or rather morning — like, 2am) and brought me back down to earth.
I love how he speaks so clearly through the scriptures. :)
Here’s the verse that really did it for me.
Amen.
“The only reason we live in a fallen world, is because we live in a fallen culture, but take heart, culture can be changed.” - Mattie Montgomery
This man is the vocalist for the band For Today. I began listening to them for their insane drumming. And soon after, I started noticing the words to the catchy songs with amazing music. The lyrics, though, made me think, made me wonder, made me desire, made me strive. They aren’t lyrics like ones of the typical Christian metal band. They are a lesson, a calling to the people, a worship to our God.
One of their more popular, probably most popular songs:
Agape.
“Can we payback more than can be measured? If we could love. There is an amount of love, An amount of grace, Beyond all meaning. If we could even grasp it. There would be more pleasure. There is no greater love than laying your life down for a friend. If we loved God to a teaspoon of his overflowing cup, What would this world then see? Our land of sorrow and turmoil would swirl to a community of joy, Open our eyes to glisten, Open our hearts to receive, Open our mouths to smile, This is a love that none can fathom. How can we repay?
Love the Lord your God: With all your heart, All your soul, All your mind, All your strength.”
These are things coming straight from the bible. These are the things that followers of Christ need to know, be aware of, and use in their daily life, yet most do not.
Deuteronomy 6:
5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
These things are SO important, to love the LORD with everything we have, that it says to bind them to ourselves, impress them to our children, talk about them where ever we go! Without a love for our Lord, we can accomplish nothing, we can love no one. It starts with he who IS love.
As Mattie once said about living in a fallen world, and how our culture can be changed. The change can happen with none other than love, because people respond to love, whether in confusion and anger that ends in realization or an instant acceptance of it. But love itself begins with God,
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
If you don’t know and love God, you do not know love, and how can you expect to show others his love and change the world with it? You cannot.
See the problem with the broken world we live in begins with ourselves, tricking ourselves into thinking it’s alright with living with a lack of love for our Lord.
We speak so much about how we need to love, just love one another, show love,
But first, before we can do ANY of that.
We must know the Lord.
Then love him, with everything we have, just love our God.
Then loving others will become so much easier.
I mean if we can love the creator of all, how hard can it be to love His creations?
Mattie Montgomery is someone I look up to so much for the reason that he shows his love for God in everything he does, he doesn’t even have to say it for it to be known, and he is quite fearless about his faith, and doesn’t let what others think hinder his strive for the lords will. And according to this, according to his submission to the lord, he has been blessed and given the opportunity to do what he loves, share his faith and touch lives like my own.
I want to be like him. Not the part of him that’s a famous kid in a hardcore band, but the part that is a fearless, child of God, who wants nothing more than the lords will to be done and all creation to come into the lords presence.
I’ve seen this man preach, sing, play, speak all for the Lord. And the passion that flows from his action is what I want to have on myself, I want to love the lord like that, I want that passion, and I am jealous of his, which helps me strive.
I will become a fearless child of God. I will.
I’m not really into reading a lot on tumblr, but THIS caught my attention.
